The Dawn of a New Chapter: SCMS Pune's Induction Week

The Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies, Pune welcomed its new batch of energetic,

ambitious and inquisitive students with an exciting and informative induction week. The

week-long induction program introduced students to the upcoming exciting college life,

consisting of a blend of academics ,extracurricular activities and upskilling opportunities.

The first day of the induction week set the upcoming days with an inspiring tone. The campus was buzzing with nervous yet excited, confused but curious faces. First years interacted with each other, some belonging from the same town but didn’t meet, some coming from entirely different countries becoming friends from local Pune students, exchanging views, cultural differences and similarities and so on. The chief guest for Day 1 - Ms. Falguni Gokhale - Communication Designer, Artist, Founder of Design Directions Pvt. Ltd addressed the students and left a long lasting and inspiring impression on the minds of students. The subsequent days were followed by an alumni panel discussion, which was attended by Ms. Teena Wasan (Batch 2005–08), Mr. Gautam Keswani (Batch 2006–09), Mr. Yash Agrawal (Batch 2006–09) and Ms. Priya Agrawal (Batch 2016–19), who shared their perspectives of college life during their tenure of the college, anecdotes and how they managed their college life in a productive and fun way. Students got an insight on how the college has evolved throughout the years, from 2005-08 to 2016-19 and where the college stands now. The students were also taken on Campus tours, a visit to the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Museum & Memorial, and Symbiosis International (Deemed University) campus.

Engaging sessions on Sustainable waste management, gender sensitivity, mental and physical health provided healthy and informative interaction to the students and a stepping

stone in their transition from a school student to a college student. Balancing the academic focus, the program also provided a way for the new students to interact with their seniors. The Student Council and Club and Board Heads pitched the student run clubs, cells and boards to the students, providing a glimpse of what activities and opportunities the students get to participate in apart from the studies and routine college life.

The week concluded with an ice breaker session in the amphitheater. Students got to experience their first intra - division mini competitions , which would foreshadow the upcoming 3 major events in the first year of college life.

A common induction event was also organized which included First Years from the institutes

of SCMS, SID and SCMC, which was graced by SIU dignitaries, chairman and chief guests.

The interactions instilled students with confidence and an even stronger desire to make the

best out of their college life, academically, socially and upskilling themselves as well. This eventful and exciting week transformed the upcoming students from a nervous and confused group into an ambitious, confident and determined group of unified individuals . As the first years start preparing for their club and cell interviews, the floors and classrooms of SCMS Pune have started to bubble with a flavor of optimism and curiosity.
