As our favorite (mostly Taylor Swift’s)
gloomy month comes to an end, it would be
safe to say that it was an absolute whirlwind
for everyone in SCMS. Apart from being one
of the most active months, co curricularly for
students, we can also safely assume that
everybody and their friends are done and
tired with rain. I for one cannot wait for the
day to come when the sun is shining again and I
don’t have to wash clothes every two
seconds. But we were all hoping for a cooler
weather during the scorching heat of April so
I guess the grass is greener on the other side.
Starting with first years, August was an
unexpected month for them. What started as
Sympulse interviews quickly turned into
dancing and singing competitions, and if that
weren’t enough, they had to face the wrath of
our club heads as they competed for their
spots in the college clubs of their choice.
Whether it be performing or non-performing,
the competition was as high as the water
level in Viman Nagar. But then came the
college cells, with every student
worn down, they gathered enough courage to
sit in for another round of applications and
interviews but it’s all good now because I
heard one of them say, “I feel like I’m smarter
now after giving all these interviews.” Coming to the second years, they have all been
settling into Pune (again), some in new
apartments, some still in hostels (me
unfortunately). With the number of subjects
having doubled suddenly and the reality of the
“real world” coming strikingly close, you can say
that they are coping up well enough.
Third years will be a little difficult to account for
but that is also entirely understandable, with the
stress of placements and CAT, I wouldn’t be
seeing hanging around much either. But no
matter what we always know they have got our
backs and know just what to say to calm their
juniors mid breakdown.
At the end August was just a mundane month till
it wasn’t, because at the end, is there ever a
mundane month at SCMS, Pune?
